Why Trulia is different

Trulia is lifestyle-led, neighborhood-first, and built for discovery-stage buyers.

Discovery-stage buyer intent

Trulia attracts buyers earlier in the journey than Zillow or Realtor.com — they’re exploring neighborhoods, comparing commutes, browsing schools. Photos that tell a lifestyle story (not just rooms) earn more save-and-revisit behavior.

Save-and-revisit traffic, not one-shot click-through

Neighborhood-context surface

Trulia's defining feature is the neighborhood layer — schools, commutes, local insights. Your listing photos sit next to neighborhood photography and reviews. Stage the interior to match the lifestyle the neighborhood layer telegraphs.

Listing photos render next to neighborhood content

Zillow-Group aware

Trulia is a Zillow Group property. Photos uploaded via MLS appear across both Trulia and Zillow — same source-of-truth, two surfaces. Edensign output works on both; the disclosure compliance is identical.

Same MLS feed, two consumer surfaces

Workflow

Stage to MLS spec — Trulia and Zillow both ingest.

  1. 01

    Upload to Edensign.

Photographer files, drone, restage-over-tenant — any input source works.

  2. 02

Stage the full set with a lifestyle register.

Edensign style library covers contemporary, transitional, warm-traditional, coastal, mountain-modern — match the lifestyle Trulia’s neighborhood layer is telegraphing.

  3. 03

Upload to MLS — Trulia and Zillow pick up.

MLS-to-Trulia ingestion runs every 4–24 hours. Add the MLS-required "Virtually Staged" caption per your local rules.

Image specs

Trulia photo specs — and how Edensign matches.

Trulia inherits image specs from the host MLS, then re-renders for its mobile-heavy, lifestyle-led layout. These are the numbers that actually matter.

  • Minimum dimensions
    Platform
640 × 480 px enforced via MLS feeds Trulia ingests.
    Edensign
FitsEdensign preserves photographer-native resolution — 3000+ px wide is the typical input and output.
  • Recommended dimensions
    Platform
    1,920 × 1,080 px or higher for sharp mobile-app full-screen viewing
    Edensign
FitsDefault Edensign output exceeds this. Trulia app users on retina phones see crisp photos at every zoom level.
  • Aspect ratio
    Platform
Gallery is 4:3 / 3:2 mixed; feed thumbnail is square; neighborhood-context card is roughly 16:9
    Edensign
FitsCenter-weighted composition survives all three crops without losing the focal vignette.
  • File format
    Platform
JPEG via MLS feed. PNG re-encoded; HEIC unsupported by some MLSes.
    Edensign
FitsJPEG export by default at quality 92.
  • Max file size
    Platform
Inherits MLS-feed limit — typically 10–20 MB per photo. Trulia re-renders to roughly 400 KB per app tile.
    Edensign
FitsEdensign exports typically 1–6 MB — comfortable headroom on every MLS cap.
  • Photos per listing
    Platform
Trulia typically displays the same count Zillow does (up to 36)
    Edensign
FitsA full 36-photo set runs ≈ $28 at Professional tier. Cheaper than vendor staging for any one room.
  • Photo order
    Platform
MLS-feed order. First photo is the hero across feed, neighborhood, and email digests.
    Edensign
FitsEdensign batch flow keeps numbering consistent — set the order in your MLS upload step.

Reflects Trulia behavior as of 2026. Trulia and Zillow share Zillow Group's ingestion infrastructure — same MLS feed surfaces on both sites.

Display slots

Trulia surfaces you’re optimizing for.

Trulia leans heavily on lifestyle-led surfaces unique to its product — Edensign output has to fit each one.

Neighborhood-context feed

Listings appear in a feed alongside neighborhood photography, school ratings, and local reviews. Buyers compare your interior to the neighborhood vibe Trulia is telegraphing.

Edensign fitMatch the staging register to the neighborhood — coastal-modern in beach markets, mountain-modern in resort markets, contemporary urban in city markets.

Map-view pin preview

Hover a Trulia map pin and the hero photo previews in a popover. Same single-photo rules apply as Zillow, but the buyer mode is more exploratory.

Edensign fitBright, contrasty staging reads clearly at 150×100px — and matches the lifestyle the surrounding neighborhood card is selling.

Detail-page gallery

Mobile-first horizontal swipe through the full photo set. Trulia users skew mobile harder than other platforms — the photo experience is the listing experience.

Edensign fitConsistent style and color register across every photo — mobile swiping reveals inconsistencies that desktop scrolling hides.

"Find your fit" lifestyle quiz

Trulia's onboarding lifestyle quiz routes users to listings matching their stated preferences. Your photo set has to read as the lifestyle the buyer self-identified.

Edensign fitEdensign style library covers the lifestyle vectors Trulia segments on — match the dominant register to win the routed traffic.

What Trulia publishers ask before signing up

Yes. Trulia displays what the host MLS feeds it. Each MLS sets the disclosure rule — typically a 'Virtually Staged' label in the caption or remarks. Edensign output itself is policy-neutral; disclosure is the agent's responsibility per local MLS rules.

Trulia and Zillow are both Zillow Group properties — they share the same MLS ingestion pipeline. If your MLS feed includes a listing, both Trulia and Zillow surface it within hours. There's no separate 'Trulia upload' for most MLS-listed homes.

Trulia leans harder into neighborhood and lifestyle layers — schools, commutes, local reviews. Your photos appear in the same Zillow Group infrastructure but inside a UI optimized for discovery-stage research, not transaction-stage decisions.

Not the photos themselves — they're literally the same files. But Trulia rewards a lifestyle-coherent set more visibly (because the neighborhood context surrounds them). Stage with the lifestyle the neighborhood layer is selling.

Trulia displays the same count Zillow does — up to 36 photos via MLS feed. Per-photo pricing keeps the full set economical at every Edensign tier.

No, Trulia inherits the disclosure rule from your host MLS. The standard requirement is a 'Virtually Staged' label in the photo caption or listing remarks.

Trulia doesn't expose per-listing analytics to agents the way Zillow Premier Agent does. The cleanest proxy is your MLS days-on-market and your Zillow-side saves/CTR — both of which lift when Trulia traffic engages.

Stage for the other listing platforms too.
